Samsung is working on a new series of smartphones under the A-series moniker that will follow up in the steps of the Galaxy Alpha
Samsung has often been criticised for the plasticky build quality of its devices but it intends on changing that image. Samsung is planning on launching a new series of smartphones named the “A-Series” which will be headed by the recently launched Galaxy Alpha. There will be three new smartphones under the range which will come with the model numbers SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A500. These will be launched across a wide range of price points and the lineup of 4 smartphones will help Samsung cater to a wider range of customers.
Talking about the devices, they will follow in the steps of the Galaxy Alpha in terms of design philosophy and quality of materials used. The SM-A300 will reportedly come with a qHD (960 X 540 pixels) display while the other are believed to come with HD displays. What is unknown is the fact that if these will be HD or full HD units. Samsung might launch devices with both the displays. There is no information about the sizes of these displays.
The only other piece of information that is available about them is that they will come with “better” front-facing cameras which is a pretty subjective term. We think they will be better units than the currently existing ones in their respective segments. All of them will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat and the same has been confirmed by the fact that the SM-A500 has even been listed on Samsung’s site with the latest version of the operating system.
The devices will be the launched in the Q3 2014 which ends in September. The launch of these devices will probably skip the IFA 2014 as the event will be reserved for the launch of the Galaxy Note 4. Samsung has been trying to break away from the image of producing devices with plastic build quality. The new series will be the one aiding Samsung’s efforts and even the Note 4 will get a premium quality of build materials.
